I had the good fortune of being able to hang out with some of my favorite queer porn stars last night, by attending a couple of workshops given as a part of Porn Week at The Evergreen State College (my alma mater, class of ’94). I was able to attend two workshops, Impact Play led by Jiz Lee and Owning Your Cock, a workshop on strap-on play led by Sophia St. James. Unfortunately, I couldn’t go out earlier in the day for the panel discussion featuring Tina Horn, Sophia, Mickey Mod, Jiz and James Darling.
I don’t go out to the college often any more, and this class was being held in one of the newer buildings, so I was a little concerned about finding my way and getting there on time. I got there a few minutes early, with a smattering of folks arranged at tables around the center of the room, which was kept open. Jiz’s had rearranged the chairs and tables into a configuration that was less formal than the traditional classroom. I put my things down and went over to say hello to Jiz and was delighted that they remembered me from online and the New York Sex Blogger’s Calendar party we both attended. We ended up chatting a bit while the rest of the attendees gathered. Jiz wanted my feedback on some ideas they had about introducing the use of everyday objects for impact play and we brainstormed a bit. Soon more people were there, including the rest of the presenters. I was quite happy when Sophia St. James came in and sat beside me. I met Sophia in person at the Portland Butch Voices conference — she organized the Friday night play party.
Other members of the travelling porn educational tribe were Courtney Trouble, Tina Horn, James Darling, Mickey Mod (swoon) and Juliette March — who we can thank for organizing this fine assemblage.
As the room began to settle down, I looked across and saw a laptop and a video camera. Courtney Trouble came over to inform Sophia, myself and others at that side of the room that QueerPornTV would be live streaming the workshop and that we’d be in the ‘line of fire’, inviting us to move if we didn’t want to be part of the show. The other table near us pulled themselves out of the view, Sophia and I looked at each other and laughed. She said something like, “I don’t mind, do you, Kyle?” And, no, I didn’t mind at all. So, if you caught some of that live stream, I was the one sitting next to Sophia opposite the camera. More on the disposition of that live stream later.
Jiz Lee’s workshop on impact play with a concentration on using what you have at hand, including your hands. They started us off with some brainstorming about objects you could use if you found yourself in the kitchen.. or the bathroom.. etc.

In their demonstration of various impact play techniques, Jiz got as many audience members involved as possible. I got to help out as a demo model for a few moments. Jiz had me get a chair and bend over it, then demonstrated the regions of the body that were available for impact, and other fun stuff, while the bottom was in that position. Then Jiz had me stand and asked if I’d help with another demo, asking “Do you want to bend over me, or have me bend over you.” How often do you get to hear a porn star ask you something like that? It was a hard choice, but I chose to have them bend over me and in moments I was seated on the chair with Jiz bent over my lap ready for a bit of OTK fun. Jiz continued to pull audience members out to demonstrate techniques like punching, face slapping, using long hair for other than pulling, kicking with high heels, using work boots to kick and step on the bottom.
Through out, there was a lot of interaction with the folks in attendance, and it was fun to have something to offer from my own experiences with Roxy. I also discovered something that I want to try out with my Sir: kissing while face slapping. There’s something really evil about softening the sub up with a kiss while slapping their face.

Jiz ended the Impact Play workshop with one of their favorite forms of impact: fisting. They got a blanket out and Jiz stripped down. Everyone in the room had fair warning, and was given a guilt free pass to leave if they didn’t want to watch. I think maybe a couple of people left.. but not many. First up as fister was Juliette March, who demonstrated the proper hand shape and both she and Jiz discussed technique and positions. I added some tips from my experience as a fistee as did some others. About halfway through, Jiz invited Mickey Mod to join in the fun. What’s funny is that even though only his fist was gonna see action, he stripped down to his knit boxers. Ahhh.. porn stars.. it just doesn’t get any better than this.
It all ended in an ejaculation that could have been simulated by using a hose with your thumb across it — Jiz is a champion ejaculator. To say the audience was held thrall by the demonstration is an understatement. I haven’t been to any classes like this before, but I’m pretty sure most don’t end in live sex.
Luckily, there was a break between classes because I know I needed to cool off a bit. I headed out toward the restroom and almost literally ran into Mickey Mod. Now, let me give you a bit of background. Mickey is a sexy man, a sexy queer man who does sexy queer things on film with other sexy queer people. I have a bit of a crush on him. So when I saw him in the hallway, I took a moment to convey my appreciation for his talents as a performer. In other words, I got a bit fanboy on him. I told him that I thought he was sexy and that I’d mentioned my appreciation to Sophia who immediately said “And he’s very nice, too.” I told him that came through on screen and he thanked me and gave me a hug. I guess people don’t comment on that aspect of his personality very often.
Let me repeat something, in case you didn’t catch it: I hugged Mickey Mod!!! *fanboy squeel*
OK, ahem, let’s get back to the post, shall we?
Sophia’s class on strap-ons was next up. She had three harnesses and a variety of dildos. I’d brought my ‘dick bag’ and arranged my cocks and harness for display as well. Sophia covered a lot of information: different styles of strap-ons and the benefits/drawbacks of each. Different types and styles of dildos. She went through the different materials, starting from the less expensive and less desirable ones — the downsides of phthalates were emphasized. She had a couple of people step up to demonstrate how to get harnesses on correctly. I was the second demo, using my Jaguar harness by Aslan Leather. The other was a woman sitting next to me, a former Babeland employee who had plenty of great information to offer the group. I really enjoyed talking with her throughout the class. She and I had an interesting conversation about being attracted to queer guys. We agreed that trans guys and queer guys were sexy in ways straight guys (even trans ones) were not.
Apparently, the way porn stars give classes, there is always sex at the end. Sophia showed off her birthday present — a silver leather strap-on harness designed by Aslan for her — by fucking Tina Horn.
Afterward, I had a chance to meet the rest of the group: Tina, Courtney Trouble, Juliette March, James Darling (and yeah, he really is). I thanked Jiz again for coming all this way, her response, “I had no idea you lived here, this is great.” I thanked Juliette profusely for organizing this crew, because, honestly, we don’t have opportunities like this very often in Olympia. I networked with Juliette and some other folks before taking my leave.
It was a lot of fun to hang out in a room full of sex-positive queers, to have a chance to talk about sex, sex toys and BDSM with cool folks who didn’t need to be convinced it was a good thing. Thank you again, Juliette March and the rest of you sexy folks for bringing the queer, pervy groove to our humble town.
I mentioned earlier that QueerPornTV was live streaming both classes. I was watching my twitter feed and some of my buddies did see me, which was fun, in and of itself. I found out from Courtney afterward that partway through Sophia’s class, the server crashed. Luckily, both classes were recorded and will be available on QueerPornTV soon (When, Courtney, when?!).
